SOW HIS SEED
I have heard many pray this prayer, including myself, “Lord give me an opportunity to share the Gospel with someone”.
In my early years as a believer I wanted to tell everyone about my Lord, sometimes desperately! The problem was I struggled with ‘opportune moments’. One day I remember being on the train debating internally with the Lord about ‘opportunities’, He softly whispered to me, “whenever you are engaged in a conversation with someone, use that as an opportunity to share Me with them”. How true and how simple! Personally, this was a light bulb moment for me as this shifted my perspective completely.
Often, we can complicate matters and perhaps expect God to ‘give an opportunity’ through an audible voice or maybe we are expecting a big supernatural arrow pointing towards someone. In reality ‘opportunity’ often is a gentle whisper or tugging of the heart when you already know that He wants you to reach out to the person standing in front of you. Remember, it is His love for the world that compels us to act.
The bible says, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Luke 12:34). In other words, we will naturally talk about whatever we are passionate about and it will effortlessly find its way into our conversations. Just like that, as believers when we are truly in love with Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him our conversations will naturally be centred around Him.
“Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest”. (Ecclesiastes 11:4)
In this verse, we are the ‘farmers’. The seed which we sow is Jesus. There are several ways by which we can sow this priceless seed. We can sow by sharing His good news, praying for people, giving through our generosity, demonstrating His love and caring for those round us, showing compassion to those that are hurting and by simply sharing about what God has done in our own lives.
Holy Sprit is the Master orchestrator and it is always Him who creates perfect opportunities. The truth is that in our every day living we are presented with opportunities to demonstrate His love. Whether you’re at a restaurant, coffee shop, supermarket, gym or work, there will always be people we come in contact with. I get blown away every time I share my testimony with someone, I get to witness the Father’s love visibly pouring out over lives that need Him, sometimes for the very first time! In simply obeying His voice and sharing these seemingly simple words, “Jesus loves you”, I am awestruck by the impact these ‘simple’ words have.
Friends, in a world that is gripped with darkness, fear, anxiety, confusion, uncertainty, loss of identity, we are called to be the salt, light and atmosphere changers! I truly believe that by allowing Holy Spirit to lead, direct and correct us in our day to day lives we have the power to unleash the answer this world so desperately needs and is agonisingly searching for. This seed of Truth must be planted, it must bear fruit, it must multiply and bring about a lasting change that only Jesus can do.
“Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things. Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another or maybe both”. (Ecclesiastes 11:5-6)
Brother and sisters, I encourage you to be bold in your daily life, let us not neglect His prompts to witness to ‘the one’ and sow His precious seed, as you never know when it will bring in the harvest.
Perhaps you are reading this and you are going through a tough time, there may be confusion that might be causing a battle in your mind that you can not shake off, you may have a sickness in your body, addiction, feelings of hopelessness and loneliness, whatever it may be, I want to tell you that Jesus is the Answer. Simply invite Him into your situation and let Him pour His love and healing over you.
He loves you so much and is longing to have a relationship with you.
Blessings in Christ,
